Check Out Tidiane Simpson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tidiane Simpson.

Hi Tidiane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born in Bridge View and raised in Downtown San Diego. My name “Tidiane” is an African-French name that means “One who studies. I attended San Diego High School I.S. and graduated with a bachelors in Music Industry from CSU Chico. But that’s only part of my background. Since a young age I’ve found myself fascinated with dancing singing rapping and acting. I wasn’t good at them at first, but that changed with practice. My parents taught me “you can do anything i set my mind too”. because of that saying I never doubted myself. I just kept practicing everyday. Piano 5 hours a day. I would Dance all the time (even while talking to people). For modeling and acting I would spend time looking in the mirror posing and would study my facial expressions. God was watching me and eventually introduced me to my soon to be mentors Dajahan Blevins, Mestre Dennis Newson, Prince and more to name. The taught me to be great. I started making a name for myself in many school districts for dancing. SDHS always reached out to me and my dance partner to performa at the rally or any event. From there I would travel and perform around San Diego and LA. Dancing battling & performing and teaching dance at SDHS. The I met Pia, a modeling coordinator. She put me in her runway modeling show and in more of her events and from there my partner and i got a lot of opportunities. Here’s some notable mentions: Dancing at the San Diego Aztec basketball games, Invited to Step 3 and Step Up revolution movies sets, America’s Got talent, invited guest at Kuumba Fest and more. After college i was given an opportunity to make background music for actor King Vader and vine comedian Caleb City. Since then I’ve been promoting myself as a multi-talented performer, but have rebranded to an independent recording artist. My story isn’t done yet. Currently my journey leads me to LA. My goal is to tour internationally. I’m goin to to continue sharing all my gifts. I want to give the world what my mentors and parents gave me. San Diego I owe you. I can’t wait to move back, God Bless. God is my savior.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest obstacles. Fear and doubt. A running thing in my life has been people telling me what I “can’t do”. I’ve allowed it to create doubt in myself thus creating ups and downs. it also motivated me to have faith in God and prevail. The challenge is to master perseverance. Most people won’t cosign your first idea, tell you your great or help you make your goal possible. Showing perseverance when the world teaches “you can’t do it” allows me to overcome my doubts. I learned from the wise words of my mom, Cody Sanchez, Dajahn Blevins and Mestre Preto Velho “don’t ever let someone tell you what you can’t do. Theirs always something you can do it”. Easiest quote said, not as easy to follow. As long as I persevere and remember that quote I’ll always make it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multi-talented entertainer. My best skills I showcase are making music, dancing, singing, acting and modeling. I’m currently on my journey to full send my music career by show casing myself as an independent recording artist. I started a record label called Kaiyo Entertainment LLC. I help artist as much as possible and I release my own music through my label. . Bookings, meet & greets, performances and dance lesson/services etc are all handle through the label.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
God. My family. The love of my life. My mentors, The world. I believe I’m here to help give back to others who weren’t as fortunate as I was. Many of these people I know and others are unknown. Even if they don’t know it every one has helped me in some way. So I want to help them too.
